The common side effects of Nitrazepam do not require medical attention and will resolve as the body adjusts to the dosage. Individual may react differently to the medication,  however, if you experience any serious or rare side effects, as listed below, medical attention should be sought immediately.
  • Signs of an allergic reaction may be observed, such as rash; hives; itching; skin that is red, swollen, blistered, or peeling with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Changes in balance may be noted.
  • Difficulty moving may be experienced.
  • Falls may occur.
  • confusion may be felt.
  • New or worsening behavior or mood changes, such as depression or thoughts of suicide, may be observed.
  • Hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not there) may be experienced.
  • Difficulty focusing may be experienced.
  • Increased saliva production may be noted.
  • Muscle spasms may be experienced.
